Sorry, should have posted this a while back, but here are the official Momocon photographer pics if you want to see what other cool costumes were present at the con last month! If you’ve a sharp eye, you might be able to spot us seated and waiting to watch the Costume contest in a couple shots (though we may have our jackets/cloaks off, and my hair is very obviously out of character into my customary ponytail due to the heat) 😛 You can check out more info and stuff for the next Momocon on their facebook page.
Also ended up in this video (also sans jacket and cloak because they wanted “that Mikasa” lol :P), done by people from AkaiCon, which is a con you should check out if you’re in Nashville the first weekend of August. There are some nice cosplays done in that one, and I especially liked the MKR’s Hikaru one (?) near the end. That Equalist Lieutenant was quite good, too. One of my fellow scouting legion members and I also ended up in the background of this awesome video done by David Hoang and crew members from Nerd Reactor that showcases lots of great cosplays and also really makes you want to get up and dance! Thanks to David, we were also able to see Sifu Kisu dance a little Michael Jackson style, as well as see Dante Basco do a little bboying! Both, of which you can see in the video, along with David’s impressive flip 🙂 (Sorry, I didn’t get to meet the other guy from Nerd Reactor who also danced at the end so don’t know his name, but he was cool, too!)
Oh yeah, just wanted to give a shoutout to some really cool artists in the artist’s gallery. Katy Lipscomb had really cool paintings (?) of rainbow-colored wolf spirits and other mythical animals – according to her card, you can see her work at lucky978.deviantart.com.
There was also a guy who did amazing woodwork/carvings:
See that?! all of that was carved from the wood, then painted! Really cool. He also had a Wings of Freedom clock and various other goods as you can see from the picture on the right. The guy on the left is the man himself (and yes he had contacts on, since I’ve been asked about that before haha). The guy on the right is another artist who was there and shared a table.
Anyways, really cool stuff. Looking forward to going to Anime Weekend Atlanta in September! (Maybe, if I have enough time to make a costume and get a ride there :P)
