It’s that time again! Or rather, it’s been way past time for this… >.< I tried to do a “let’s get rid of all the tabs that are sucking the most memory from my computer” thing yesterday on here, but then my computer basically completely rebelled and wouldn’t even let me open this page T___T. So I had to shut it down and reopen so here we are. So forgive the non-cohesiveness (more so than usual) of this link dump, as it is for the most part, targeting the webpages that are taking up the most space.
First on the list are some things that were breaking news at the time that I was quite excited about at the time (and still am), but that no longer falls under the “news” category due to time:
The 4th ATLA comic book Smoke and Shadow is supposed to be released sometime this year! Not sure if it’s happened yet – a quick google search has revealed that it actually hasn’t yet (so I guess this is technically still news after all! haha!), with Part 1 set to be out in September and Part 2 set to be released in December. It will apparently focus on Zuko and Mai’s relationship, as well as the New Ozai Society, which should be interesting. Here’s an exclusive interview with Gene Yang, the author of the comic book series, who’s done a phenomenal job of keeping characters true to form and expanding on the original ALTA series. (You know I really respect someone’s work if I use the word “phenomenal” lol… that’s a word almost never seen in my vocabulary :P)
This next one really IS no longer news, as his show has literally been up for over a year (yes, that’s probably about how long I’ve had this tab, and many others like it, open… T__T), but here’s an article on John Oliver’s show, Last Week Tonight, when it first came out, and it pretty much captures why I love John Oliver and his show so much. He is not just funny, but is witty, and actually makes very important points on basically injustices that are happening around the world that very few people know about until they watch his show. Myself included. As some have said, his reporting is more accurate than most, if not all, news stations out there. And I must say… if people are turning to comedy shows and personalities (which includes Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert) to get the news, then there is something really wrong with how the news stations/papers/websites are reporting their “facts” nowadays…
Basically, John Oliver is the only reason I would want HBO (but since it’s free online, I don’t have to worry about it yay!) and ABDC was (and now is again!) the only reason I would want MTV. Yeah, did you hear?! ABDC IS BACK!!! Season 8 starts tomorrow night (and I am again so sad I don’t have access to MTV because of it!) and it features ALL the previous winning teams!!! Including, of course, Quest Crew, who I hope will kill it on stage again this time :DDD No pressure of course. Lol.
And whoa. Here’s a pretty sad story of a boy who became a WWII veteran at 13 years old and served during the Pearl Harbor bombing with valor… and subsequently got tossed into jail for lying about his age after his mother contacted the Navy and had all his medals stripped and no disability after being shot in the mouth for years. >.<!!! Talk about mistreatment. Though not as sad as the article I read yesterday on an Asian girl who ordered hitmen on both her parents after they grounded her for lying her way through school most of her life due to “pressure” (and ended up killing her mom, who was the one who supported her, even after she found out about the lies). Such a sad story, for all involved.
And that’s about as far as I could get tonight. Sigh. At least that took care of most of the ones that were in the 100k+ memory range… (dang, FB and wordpress each also take up >100k 0.o No wonder GW2 and Crunchyroll always speed up after I close FB haha 0.o)
